I hate the wait before you can buff out your finish.

While waiting for finish to cure I made a couple of boxes with some wenge and figured maple. I used some of the skills from guitar making, like binding... I've never made a box before (other than a guitar). I had some fun and now I've got something to give to my sisters.

BTW - finished in Tru-oil.

Very nice Steve!
I just watch the cars rust while the Nitro cures.

Nice looking boxes. Is that left over wood from guitars? Is it thin?

What finish did you use and what will you do while it cures?

Ed

Those are really nice!

I got in the habit a few years ago, mostly to make use of the leftover wood, of making a small box to hold extra strings, picks, and a tuner. I use the particular guitar's wood and use the left over binding and perfling so it's identical to the guitar.
I give it to whoever the guitar goes to so it's a matched set.
That's what happens when you have more time than sense...

Very Nice...

Sound clip?

I think you have made a huge error using those hinges as I am afraid they don't transmit sound very well. You should consider sliding tops instead...
